ADMISSIONS PROCEDURE
Owing to Covid-19 restrictions we are unable to hold an Open Afternoon this year for parents interested in applying for a place for their child. Instead please see the short video on the website - 'A day in the life of our nursery' plus our School Prospectus which will hopefully be of some help to you. If you have any specific queries please feel free to contact the school by email: info@pondparkns.lisburn.ni.sch.uk and we will be happy to answer any questions you may have.
The school's admissions number is 78 and is divided into three classes of 26 children; one full time class and 2 part time classes. The times of the sessions are as follows:
Full Time class - 8.50 am - 1.20 pm each day
Part Time (Morning) class - 8.45 - 11.15 am each day
Part Time (Afternoon) class - 12.10 - 2.40 pm each day
Applications for admission are made online in January for admission in the following September.
If oversubscribed we will apply our published Admissions Criteria, in order, as follows:
1. Children from 'socially disadvantaged' circumstances who were born between 2 July 2017 and 1 July 2018
2. Other children born between 2 July 2017 and 1 July 2018.
* Note: Children from 'socially disadvantaged circumstances' means a child whose parent is in receipt of (I) Income Support, or (ii) Income-based Jobseeker's Allowance, or (iii) an award of Income Support which has been converted into an Employment and Support Allowance and the level of benefit remains the same, or (iv) Universal Credit. When parents apply for places for their child on this basis they must have their Benefit Verification form stamped by the Social Security/Jobs and Benefits Office to confirm that they are in receipt of a qualifying payment. This should then be uploaded together with your child's birth certificate and any other supporting documents required by any of the schools you have listed, after you have submitted your online application and no later than 12.00 noon on Friday 29 January 2021. If the stamped and signed benefit verification form is not uploaded by this deadline then the application WILL NOT BE CONSIDERED UNDER THIS CRITERION.
If oversubscribed in any of the above criteria the following sub-criteria will be applied in order (a) - (d)
(a) Children with an older brother/sister (half brother/sister) who currently attend the Nursery School or have attended
within the past seven years
(b) Children whose parent(s) have listed Pond Park Nursery School as their first preference for any of the sessions offered
(full time/part time)
(c) Children whose parent(s) or grandparent(s) is or has been a member of the Board of Governors or a permanent employee
of the school
(d) Children on the basis of proximity of their home to the school gate as measured by the Ordnance Survey Distance
Measurement Tool (or equivalent)
Applications for admission to pre-school in the 2021-22 Academic year are to be made online at www.eani.org.uk/admissions. Parents are required to register first and then complete and submit their application. Please read carefully the admissions criteria of the schools you are considering applying to and then list them in order of your preference on the application. As Lisburn schools have been heavily oversubscribed in the past number of years we would strongly recommend that you list at least 4 schools on your application.
Pond Park Nursery School offers both full time and part time places - please note that if you wish to be considered for all sessions offered by us you must list us TWICE, as 2 separate choices (full time and part time, in order of your preference)
The online portal will be open between 12.00 noon on Thursday 7 January 2021 and 12.00 noon on Friday 29 January 2021. Any applications made after 12.00 noon on 29 January will be considered as 'late' and can only be considered after all punctual applications have been dealt with. Please ensure that you submit your application on time. Following submission parents will receive an email within 3 days with a unique link where they can securely upload their child's birth certificate and other supporting documents including Benefit Verification statement if applicable. The closing date for submission of these documents is 12.00 noon on Friday 29 January 2021.
If you are listing Pond Park Nursery School as your first preference school(s) please note that we require the following supporting documents to be uploaded:
